Goal of the International Ultrasound Course
Beginners’ course:
After having completed the beginners’ course, the participants should be able to perform routine musculoskeletal ultrasound themselves and recognize common pathology in PMR and sports medicine.
The first day will be devoted to the examination of shoulder (morning) and elbow (afternoon). An experienced sonographer first demonstrates the examination of the normal joint. Participants then perform ultrasound themselves under supervision of 6 teachers. Each session is concluded by a lecture on common pathology of the joint and periarticular soft tissues.
Hip and knee (day 2), wrist and hand (day 3), ankle and foot (day 4) will be addressed in the same way.
Lectures will be dedicated to interventional US, visualisation of nerves.
Advanced course:
On Thursday, a parallel workshop on botulin toxin infiltrations (US-guided/ EMG-guided) and intra-articular infiltration techniques (hip joint/tibiotalar joint /shoulder joint/ lumbar facet joint) will be organised for more experienced sonographers. After having completed this workshop, the participants should be able to start using US as a tool for intramuscular and intra-articular infiltrations.
